When we booked our flights from Australia to Japan, we included a 21 hours stopover in Singapore. Of course we had to explore the area.
First of all: the Singapore airport/ Changi Airport is huge and is one of the biggest airports in Asia. There are a few sleeping areas, a gaming zone, a movie room, free foot massage and a wellness oasis (with a pool! It costs about 12 Euro for one day. It’s really worth it). So this airport is perfect for a long Stopover. When we arrived at the airport we slept for few hours. Then we put our baggage in the storage room, went to the train station and drove about 30 minutes to the city.
Our first impression of the city was incredible. Everything is so huge. The skyscrapers are amazing . We didn’t expect such a modern and futuristic city!
The Museum opens at 10am and we arrived at 9.30 am. We expected a lot of people but it was quite empty during the week. So we definitely recommend to come early. After 2 hours it becomes busy. You have the option to buy a ticket online but it wasn’t a problem to buy it at the ticket office (maybe it could be one at the weekend). Afterwards we went to the huge Shopping Mall next to the Museum to eat something. There are many restaurants so you will find something to eat.
The Museum is near Gardens by the Bay and you can explore a lot in this area. To get an idea about the hugeness of the park as well as an incredible view we recommend to go through the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and take the elevator. You will see the futuristic supertrees and can go directly into the park. For approximately 5€ you can take an elevator up to take a skywalk between two of the supertrees. If you have enough time you shouldn’t miss the famous Lightshow which is from 7.45 pm till 8.45 pm daily.
Come early to grab a good spot.
The cloud forest is also in this area. We didn’t made it to the forest but if we had more time we would probably visit it. The entrance fee is about 19€. You can see the world tallest indoor waterfall, take a walk at the cloud platform and see the incredible vegetation.
Of course we wanted to create some nice content and researched for some nice instagram spots. In the end we were to tired to visit them but if you have more time and power here are some spots:
Fort Canning cave: A pretty unknown and incredible spot. This cave is located in the fort canning park and it’s a nice photo spot with the right angle. Try to make the picture from the ground.
Peranakan Houses: You will get an amazing picture with the pretty and colorful houses in the background.
Old Hill Police Station: Another famous Instagram spot. The colors of the doors and windows remind us of a rainbow.
